  • Founded in 1974 as the Board of Trustees for State Colleges and Universities
  • Name changed in 1998 to the University of Louisiana System and transferred five community colleges to the newly created LCTC System
  • In 2011, the University of New Orleans joined the UL System making the system Nine Universities Strong

  • Created Louisiana's First 100% Online Collaborative Degree.  The Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Leadership is offered jointly by all nine universities with nine distinctive concentrations.
  • First Higher Education System to Guarantee its Teachers
  • First Higher Education System in the Country to Sign Up for the Voluntary System of Accountability (www.voluntarysystem.org)
  • Only Public Four-Year System to Participate in The Education Trust's Project Win-Win Pilot 
  • Awarded a $1.2 million Service-Learning Grant from the Corporation for National Community Service's Learn and Serve America
